Anthony Mackie discusses the biggest differences between Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Steve Rogers.
In 2014, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character quickly became one of Steve Rogers’ most trusted allies, aiding him during the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultronand Avengers: Infinity War. At the end of Avengers: EndgameRogers passed the role of Captain America to Wilson, which he was not at all keen on taking on.
During Disney Plus series events, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson was forced to confront the realities and responsibilities that came with being Captain America. By the time the series ended, the character had fully assumed the character’s title. After the series ended, it was revealed that Captain America 4 was in development.
In a recent interview with Men’s Journal, Anthony Mackie talked about Sam Wilson’s Captain America and what separated him from Steve Rogers. Mackie specifically cited the fact that Wilson was just a man with a shield and a suit and not a super soldier:
“What you have to realize about Sam is a superhero who isn’t really a superhero. There’s no secret serum. There’s no this or that. J I just have wings on my suit that I got from the army. So everything I do, I do like an ordinary man.
