It’s been a month since director Matt Shakman left the project and news of star trek 4 shelving was recently revealed. The franchise reboot was first picked up by Paramount Pictures in 2009 with JJ Abrams producing the film. He then returned to direct the sequel as well, but then chose not to do the same for the movie after. Abrams then produced the trio with Justin Lin as director.

Star Trek 4 Obstacles
The heavy ride that star trek 4 crossed was eventually shut down once the film was in the works again in April 2021. Paramount had added an untitled star trek film on their schedule with a June 9, 2023 release. Later, it was revealed that Matt Shakman was set to direct the film with JJ Abrams also returning as producer.
The film was then delayed for a few months, with its release scheduled for December 22, 2023. This didn’t seem to hamper the project as much as Chris Pine, who originally left due to pay disputes, was returning with Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana. , Karl Urban and Simon Pegg. Unfortunately, it hasn’t aged as well.

Another problem hits Star Trek 4
Matt Shakman decided to leave the project in August 2022 in order to replace director John Watts for the next The Fantastic Four reboot for Marvel. Watts quit film to take a break from making large-scale films after its success Spider-Man: No Coming Home.
“Matt Shakman is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and we’re sorry the time hasn’t come for him to direct our next Star Trek movie.”
Paramount released an official statement regarding the situation and has since pulled the film from its scheduled releases. Again awaiting a director, the film remains uncertain for the moment. The fact that its own cast members were shocked to learn of the casting news was a shock in itself and to see the film delayed again, fans will have to wait even longer.
