Zack Snyder’s Justice League was one of the best films released by Warner Bros. Pictures in recent years, not only that, it’s literally 242 minutes of pure Snyder magic. Now another DC movie, blue beetle, will follow ZSJLin the execution section.
Despite ZSJL to be hailed as a massive improvement over Joss Whedon Justice League, it also received a lot of slack for its 4-hour battery life. blue beetle will be the next movie on DC’s slate that also plans to mimic a long runtime, but would it be wise for DC to go ahead and risk adding extra minutes to the movie?

Blue Beetle would have lasted 165 minutes
Blue Beetle set to be the 14th addition to the DC Extended Universe’s extensive movie lineup. The film will star Xolo Mariduena alongside Bruna Marquezine in a story based on the DC Comics character of the same name.
It follows Jaime Reyes, a Mexican-American teenager who gains superpowers after being transplanted with the Blue Beetle beetle that provides him with powerful blue alien armor.

One of the most notable facts about the film, as reported by Big Screen Leaks on Twitter, is that the film is expected to be 2 hours and 45 minutes long.
To hear that BLUE BEETLE is a very long movie. The cut that was screened last night lasted about 165 minutes.

The source, however, also mentions that the runtime for the film has yet to be finalized as the film is still in post-production.

If these sources turn out to be true, the film will be second in line after Zack Snyder’s Justice League in terms of execution time. ZSJL lasts 242 minutes, which means about 4 hours! Snyder surely had a long way to go after his departure from the 2017 version.

Blue Beetle’s future is secure
The WB’s decision to cancel the long-awaited bat girl movie in August still resonates in our minds, Leslie Grace was perfect for the movie. The cancellation was also followed by the shelving of more than thirty TV shows on the HBO Max streaming service – originals and otherwise.

It would only be worrying for the fans of the next blue beetle movie to worry about not being able to see the movie at all. There is no need to worry, because the director has good news!
The film’s director, Angel Manuel Soto, confirmed that WB studio executives are fully behind the film’s release during an interview with NPR-
“I’m not going to lie. There was concern, anger, fear at first. They told me not to worry, the film has their full support.
It’s quite a relief to hear, because the fear of the film being thrown away was rational. If WB can throw in a $90 million movie like that, they won’t hesitate to do it for a $120 million movie.
blue beetle is slated for a theatrical release on August 18, 2023.
