Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav assured employees that the company was not for sale.
In April of this year, the merger between Warner Bros and Discovery, Inc officially went through, and the two companies became Warner Bros Discovery. Shortly after, David Zaslav was appointed CEO of the company. His tenure at the helm of the company was fraught with pitfalls, however.
The controversy around Warner Bros. Discovery began with the cancellation of the HBO Max movie Batgirl. The company later removed dozens of original shows and movies from HBO Max for tax deduction purposes. This, in turn, caused the company’s stock price to plummet, with shares currently priced around $12. This has caused much speculation that David Zaslav’s ultimate goal is to sell the company to another media conglomerate, with Comcast being a likely candidate. However, the CEO assures people that is not the case.
In a company-wide meeting, David Zaslav spoke with Warner Bros Discovery staff via Zoom. During this meeting, he assured the more than 40,000 employees that the company was not for sale. He also assured employees that the company had everything it needed to succeed:
“We are not for sale. We have everything it takes to succeed. »
