Kathleen Kennedy reportedly “put her foot down” on Marvel when she announced that Harrison Ford was cast in one of their films at this year’s D23 Expo.
Earlier this week, Angler reporter Jeff Sneider appeared on The hot mic Podcast, in which he shared that Harrison Ford might be the actor Marvel Studios has as their first choice to replace the late William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross. The character can appear in the Phase 5 finale, Love at first sight, and according to Sneider, the casting may have been a done deal, and Marvel was hoping to announce Ford’s casting at the D23 Expo last month. However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy may have refused to allow that to happen.
When he appeared on The hot micJeff Sneider said the following:
“They actually wanted to announce him as a cast member in Love at first sight at D23. But they didn’t because Kathy Kennedy put her foot down and said, “No, we’re going to keep focusing on IndianaJones 5.“
Clearly, Kathleen Kennedy and Kevin Feige don’t seem to have any bad blood between them. After all, the two appear to be collaborating on an upcoming film in the star wars universe in which Feige would serve as producer. However, this report presents something that fans of both major Disney franchises are aware of: Marvel is on the throne in the eyes of fans.
The truth is that even with an overall lukewarm reception from critics and fans alike to the entirety of Phase 4 as a whole, Marvel Studios still has the luxury of benefiting from fan doubt, and may even get away with it. posting less-than-stellar content given their mostly positive track record since 2008. In the case of star wars, reception is noticeably more mixed and distinctly polarized. Lucasfilm is behind Indiana Jones 5, and as emblematic of a character as he is, the announcement that Harrison Ford would be in Love at first sight would take away some of the good…thunder of what was shown in Dr. Jones’ last outing.
Kathleen Kennedy’s Alleged Concerns About Marvel Stealing Thunder With Harrison Ford Potentially Involved In One Of Their Projects Over His Next Indiana Jones 5 makes a lot of sense. After all, it will be Lucasfilm’s first theatrical film in nearly four years since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the hope is that this cinematic adventure will be more enjoyable for the public than that of 2008 Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
