The tracking estimates are here, and according to Hollywood trades, Dwayne Johnson black adam is currently set to be the biggest opening of The Rock’s film career.
According to tracking estimates, the superhero movie is expected to open between $70 million and $75 million.
If the tracking holds, then black adam would be The Rock’s biggest launch outside of the fast furious franchise. Hobbs and Shaw opened in August 2019 to $60 million at the domestic box office. The film would go on to gross $760.3 million worldwide.
If word of mouth black adam is positive, then perhaps the movie could open similarly to what the movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage did at $80 million domestically and $213.5 million.
The future of the DC franchise is unclear at this time after the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery. CEO David Zaslav recently unveiled a 10-year plan for DC and a “reset” inspired by what Kevin Feige did with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Warner Bros. also licensed bat girl with more changes expected.
black adam is DC’s next project, in which David Zaslav has shared his confidence with Shazam! Fury of the gods, and The flash. Dwayne Johnson made the buzz black adam inclusion in the DC Universe for some time now, and he could play a pivotal role in the future of the franchise.
