Warner Bros. is about a month away from Dwayne Johnson’s release black adam, the next DCEU superhero film, adding one of the most prominent characters from the failing franchise. Even as anticipation grows for The Rock’s DCEU debut, one name remains in the minds of many viewers as the franchise moves forward: Henry Cavill’s Superman.

It has been reported that Black Adam will be matched against Amanda Waller and Henry Cavill‘s Superman in his post-credits scene and not only that, but also with the classic John Williams theme. We haven’t seen the actor in a blue outfit since his previous appearance as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But that hasn’t stopped some fans from guessing and believing the rumors.

The DCEU’s first superhero was Henry Cavill’s Superman. He made his film debut with the franchise in Steel man, which is both a love letter to the Superman mythos and a full retelling of the Man of Steel origin story. After Cavill’s co-starring roles in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice LeagueSuperman appeared in the DCEU via cameos, although without Cavill playing the character as in Shazam and Peacemaker.

There was also speculation that Cavill would make a surprise appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, but when that didn’t happen, DC fans were understandably disappointed.
Superman vs. Black Adam, when will we get this?
Despite the critical response to the movies he appears in, Henry Cavill is the comic Superman, and Cavill has made it clear that he’s a Superman fan. Although his performance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League were well received, Superman has not been on another solo adventure since Steel man.
Given how well his first film established Superman’s corner of the DCEU, it’s worth seeing again in Man of Steel 2, which takes place between the first film and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or continues Superman’s story after Justice League, possibly partially or entirely using Snyder’s plans for the character.

There has been no confirmation that Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in black adam, but DC’s new leadership and statements from Dwayne Johnson suggest it’s very possible. Although Cavill’s Superman is unlikely to face Johnson’s Teth-Adam in black adam, a cameo appearance by Cavill is possible. Not only will Superman return to the forefront of the DCEU, but the highly anticipated clash between Cavill Superman and Johnson black adam will take place, but after the latter’s solo film.
