Thor: Love and Thunder was released worldwide on July 6, 2022. Even though the film was not well received by fans and critics, it was still a box office success, due to the expectations set by Thor: Ragnarok.
Actor Christian Bale, widely known for his role in the Batman trilogy, joined the star cast for Thor: Love and Thunder as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher opposite Chris Hemsworth. Christian Bale decided to join the film because he was impressed by Thor: Ragnarok and found Gorr’s character quite “intriguing.”

Christian Bale described acting on the film sets as “monotony” because he was unable todifferentiate one day from the next. He talked about the confusion he had working on excessive green screens since it was the first time he had done most of a film in front of a green screen.
“It’s the first time I’ve done this.. I mean, his definition is monotony. You have good people. You have other actors who are much more experienced than me. Can you tell one day from the next? No. Absolutely not. You do not know what to do. I couldn’t even tell one step from the next. They kept saying, “You’re on the third step. Well, it’s like, ‘Which one is that?’ ‘Blue.’ They’re like, ‘Yeah. But you are on the seventh step. ‘Which is it?’ ‘Blue.’ I was like, ‘Uh, where?’
Many Marvel viewers might agree with Christian Bale’s thoughts, as Marvel seems to overuse CGI even when it’s not needed.

Christian Bale is known for his methodical acting skills. He often transformed completely by gaining or losing weight excessively for his roles and even getting into the character’s mind. However, he said he made no real attempt to stay in character as Gorr between takes, as he was too busy dealing with on-set distractions.
“It would have been a pitiful attempt to do so, as I try to get help to get my fangs in and out and explain that I broke a fingernail, or tripped over the tunic.”
For an actor who goes to great lengths for the character he plays, playing in a monotonous environment must have been disappointing to say the least. Especially since the Marvel films have forged a certain notoriety. It looks like Christian Bale hasn’t enjoyed his time on Marvel sets.
