Investigators determined that Lyntell had been murdered and that her daughter, who was only three years old, may have a clue to the identity of her mother’s killer. Who is Robert Mark?
Robert Jovantie Marks was assistant principal at Brookstown Middle Magnet Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the time of the event. He was Lyntell’s colleague; yet, as the survey results showed, the nature of their relationship extended far beyond that of colleagues. On June 9, 2016, Leslie Parms called 911 after discovering Lyntell’s child, who was 3, in a parking lot. The vehicle that belonged to the mother was also in the parking lot. When authorities arrived, they discovered the girl with blood on her feet, as well as blood inside Lyntell’s vehicle. She looked like she had been there, possibly witnessing her mother’s murder, which was a startling revelation that came to light.
The child, who was only three at the time, told officers she had been with Lyntell and a man named “Mr. Robbie. She then remembers hearing an explosion and seeing her mother shiver after the incident. On top of that, Lyntell’s daughter said her dad was cleaning up the blood, and she further said her mom was “in the lake”. Lyntell was Robert’s mistress despite the fact that he was married. At the time of her death, she was seven months pregnant and he was the father of the unborn child. On June 14, 2016, Lyntell was discovered by authorities in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, in a ditch. His skeletal bones indicated that a gunshot wound to the head had been the cause of his death.
Later, the authorities indicated that the unborn child could have lived if he had received medical attention. Lyntell was in her third trimester at the time and the baby suffered no injuries in the incident. When Robert was asked about their meeting, he confirmed that it took place on June 8, 2016, in the parking lot of a Walmart in Baker, Louisiana. On the other hand, he said that they barely spoke for about half an hour before parting ways. Robert went on to say that he was now at a restaurant watching basketball games with a few other buddies. Evidence from the phone calls casts doubt on the location of the murder Robert was originally accused of committing, which took place in East Baton Rouge.
Thus, in December 2020, Robert was charged with a crime in the parish of Iberville. Lyntell and Robert’s cellphone location history revealed that they were in the town of Ramah, Louisiana on the evening of June 8, 2016. Additionally, authorities said there were no indication that a criminal act has taken place at Lyntell. apartment, Robert’s house in Zachary, Louisiana, or a junkyard in the same general area. Ultimately, they came to the conclusion that she was murdered in East Baton Rouge and the body was taken to Iberville.

Where is Robert Marks today?
In December 2021 Robert went to trial and the prosecution argued he murdered Lyntell in order to cover up the fact that he was involved with her. A colleague of Lyntell claims that Lyntell threatened to reveal the affair they were having. On top of that, the prosecution claimed Robert had been involved with a third lady and lied to her about being a doctor. The defense, on the other hand, argued that the case was based solely on circumstantial evidence; the murder weapon was never discovered and there was no evidence that Robert actually had his phone with him at the time of the crime.
Despite this, the jury decided that Robert was guilty of multiple offenses including second degree murder, second degree kidnapping, first degree feticide and aggravated kidnapping of a child. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in February 2022, when he was 45 years old. According to the documents, he is still being held at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, located in West Feliciana Parish.
