At the age of seven, Greg became fascinated with heavy lifting and imitated professional Olympic weightlifters. It was then that he and his twin brother began training under the guidance of their father. Although their instruments were nothing more than itches of iron and blocks of cement, it was enough to turn Greg’s childhood hobby into a passion. The time spent with his family would always be his favorite, as Greg has said many times, it was “one of my fondest memories growing up”.
After seeing different athletes on a television show when he was 13, Greg discovered that bodybuilding was a real job, and knew that was what he wanted to do.
Career
First steps
Having trained with homemade heavy objects from an early age, Greg Doucette was able to start participating in professional events during his teenage years; the first competitions he entered when he was just 14 were bench press events in which he easily overpowered his adult competitors.
At age 17, Greg won his first junior bodybuilding competition, in addition to competing in various weightlifting events. The first time he won one of these events, he broke a national record by lifting 382 pounds.
