Denis Villeneuve Dunes The sequel hits theaters a little earlier than expected.
Following the announcement that Marvel’s Blade movie would be postponed to 2024, Warner Bros. announced that he had moved the next Dunes sequel to its previous release date of November 3, 2023. The film was previously scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, 2023.
Denis Villeneuve is back in the director’s chair for the Dunes sequel as Timothée Chalamet leads a cast that also includes Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux and Souheila Yacoub. Filming is currently underway.
In addition to directing the first Dune movie, Denis Villeneuve also co-wrote its screenplay alongside Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. The film hit theaters in October 2021, earning $401.8 million at the worldwide box office before winning six Oscars at the 94th Academy Awards. A spin-off TV series is currently in the works at HBO Max.
