There’s no doubt that DC fans, or people who love superheroes in general, universally agree that Batman is cool as hell. What’s not to like about the character? He’s draped in black, excellent at 1v1, and can probably hold his own against a group of 10.
There are plenty of reasons to love Bruce Wayne’s vengeful superhero, but that doesn’t mean he’s right…according to some DC fans. red state director Kevin Smith is the latest member to join the legion of fans who aren’t aligned with the all-black character, and he has some pretty harsh words for the bat.

The harsh criticism of Batman by Kevin Smith
It’s safe to say that Batman is a huge pop culture icon that just about any kid around the world can recognize. The character is simply popular and there have been several major film adaptations dedicated to his adventures as a superhero.
He’s also one of the few superheroes who doesn’t have supernatural powers – he’s simply a skilled fighter who fights crime at night. However, the character has faced criticism from many of DC’s new generation fans, and comedian and actor Kevin Smith is amplifying their voice.

The 52-year-old recently spoke to GQ and shared his thoughts on the Batman and Superman movies, and he takes the latter’s side-
“Playing Superman is hard enough, isn’t it, because essentially you’re playing pop culture’s Jesus, which is hard because Jesus is pop culture’s Jesus.”
“Batman, my favorite comic book character of all time, but he’s kind of selfish, isn’t he? He’s like my parents are dead and the world will pay by never making that happen to anyone. I will beat the muggers and chain thieves for the rest of my life.
It’s not completely stupid to root Batman here, though. Losing one’s parents at such a young age would certainly inspire anyone to take revenge on the thugs who kill for their benefit.

Here’s Darren Aronofsky’s Batman R Rated Pitch
Darren Aronofsky is quite a revolutionary director in modern cinema. The 53-year-old director has made a name for himself with the release of stunning films like Requiem for a dream and more recently Mother!
The Harvard alum was also one of many directors who tried to create their own version of Batman, and interestingly his story is rated R. But his competitor was Nolan’s version of the Dark Knight, and as history tells us, Aronofsky had the end of the stick.

During an interview with Variety, the Black Swan the director opened up about his version of Batman and how it didn’t get approved-
“I presented them with a summarized, R-rated Batman origin story. An R-rated superhero movie was probably 10-15 years out of step with the reality of the business at the time. It was promising, but it was only a first draft. The studio wasn’t really interested. It was a very different take… I always said, ‘why can’t there be several different types of comic book movies out there.’ Now there is. It’s just that our timing wasn’t good.
Matt Reeves’ latest adaptation of the character isn’t far off from an R-rating simply because the nudity and excessive foul language aren’t as prominent, but it’s the closest we can get to an R-rated version. Character rating.
