A new report claims Harrison Ford is now the MCU’s Thunderbolt Ross, replacing the late William Hurt.

Oscar winner William Hurt debuted as Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in The Incredible Hulk before reprising the role in four more Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Hurt died last March at the age of 71, after a nearly decade-long battle with cancer. Now, Marvel has reportedly recast his character with one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors.

According to a recent report, Harrison Ford has signed on to replace William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross, with his first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance set in 2024. Captain America: New World Order. Ford is then expected to return as Ross in the next Love at first sight film.

The cast of Thunderbolt Ross comes from Jeff Sneider, one of the most trusted journalists in the business. Sneider announced the news during the latest episode of the Hot Mic podcast. The folks at Slashfilm later corroborated the report on their website.

The casting of Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross was supposed to be announced at Disney’s D23 Expo, but the reveal was blocked by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Kennedy would have liked to keep the spotlight on Indiana Jones 5another project featuring Ford.
