Regillio Simons is the father of budding young Dutch talent Xavi Simons. His father is a former footballer.
Simons was born in Amsterdam and is the son of former Dutch player and coach Regillio Simons. Simons himself played football in the Netherlands. On the very day of his birth, his older brother Faustino, a football player, came into the world. Simons had ancestry from Suriname; if one were to believe that the branch of the family tree comes from his father.
Xavi’s father, Regillio Simons, retired from professional football when Simons was just three years old, after playing for TOP Oss in the Netherlands. The Simons family moved from Amsterdam to Spain soon after. In recent years, Simons has made Spain his permanent home.

The young athlete, born in Amsterdam into a family of footballers, had everything he needed to become a full-fledged player. His father had played professionally before becoming a development coach.
Regillio Simons coached AFC Ajax fans
After his playing career, Xavi’s father Regillio started his coaching career. Since 2005, he embarked on a coaching career, rising through the ranks to become the head coach of many teams.
He is the head coach of one of the Ajax Youth Academy teams for the current season. Since 2010, Simons has held the coaching diploma required for a UEFA professional licence. From 2013 to 2017, he managed AFC Ajax Amateurs.
Regillio Simons first picked up a soccer ball with FC Amstelland and started his career there. He was a player for SC Telstar, Fortuna Sittard, NAC, Willem II, ADO Den Haag and TOP Oss.
After retiring from his professional career, he played for FC Türkiyemspor, an Amsterdam amateur team that competed in the city’s top Sunday league for many years. From the summer of 2008, he was a member of the AFC Ajax youth team for a total of two years.
