Walker’s birthplace is Stockton, California. His birthday was April 1, 1994. He spent most of his childhood days in East Bay, a dangerous neighborhood in the Richmond Iron Triangle.
The Seahawks star was already an outstanding competitor in football and track at Freedom High School.
He attended John F. Kennedy High School in Richmond, where he excelled academically and played high school football while winning three junior Olympic titles. In high school, he saw action as a quarterback, running back, receiver, kicker, and kick returner.
To play college football, Walker received more than 12 scholarship offers. He made a verbal commitment to the University of California, Berkeley in August 2011. However, he began to change his mind once Cal wide receivers coach Eric Kiesau left the institution. Accordingly, Walker went to the University of California, Los Angeles in February 2012.
Walker competed in 2019 and 2020 at Wake Forest. He carried the ball 217 times for 1,158 yards and 17 touchdowns in those two years. The running back transferred to Michigan State University after the 2020 campaign. In his first season at Michigan State, he was named the starter.
He rushed for 264 yards and four touchdowns in his Spartans debut. His four touchdowns tied Michigan State’s total for the 2020 season, and were the team’s first rushing scores since the 2019 campaign. The Doak Walker and Walter Camp Player of the Year award for the 2021 NCAA season went to Walker III. After the season, he declared himself for the 2022 NFL Draft and said he would forfeit his senior year.
