Thor: Ragnarok star Cate Blanchett reprises the role of Hela for Marvel’s What if…? season two.
Taika Waititi’s Marvel Studios Feature Thor: Ragnarok introduced audiences to Cate Blanchett as Hela, the evil half-sister of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. While Hela met death at the hands of Surtur in the third act of RagnarokCate Blanchett is reprising the role for the first time in years, all thanks to the What if…? series on Disney Plus.
The second season of Marvel’s Disney Plus animated series What if…? features the return of Hela by Cate Blanchett. What if…? Director Bryan Andrews broke the news during Marvel’s “Journey Into Imagination” panel at LightBox Expo 2022, as reported by Laughing Place.
What if…? also features the voices of Josh Brolin, Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Jeffrey Wright, Hayley Atwell and other major stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series “flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the movies in unexpected ways,” according to Marvel’s official description of the series.
In addition to the second season of What if…?Marvel is also working on two other animated series — Marvel Zombies and Spider-Man: Year One. The first is a direct fallout from What if…? episode five, which revolves around a Marvel Cinematic Universe that suffers from a zombie plague.
