Brandon was born to his parents, mother Sonja Marsh and father Jake Marsh in Buford, Georgia. Marsh has a close relationship with her younger sister Erin Marsh.
While at Buford High School, Marsh participated in multiple sports and hit .370 with 15 RBIs during his junior baseball (RBI) season.
He led Buford to a Georgia High School Association state championship victory alongside teammate Joey Bart, a future Major League Baseball (MLB) catcher. The Marsh family became famous in Philadelphia.
He spent the entire season on the verge of realizing his lifelong dream of playing in the major leagues.
His father died of cancer
Brandon Marsh’s father, Jake Marsh, was diagnosed with throat and tongue cancer in 2017. About a year after beating the disease, the cancer resurfaced in his kidneys. It covered his whole body, even his head.
Jake flew from Atlanta to Phoenix in March 2021 to see Brandon perform live for the last time. Traveling was difficult as he was in a wheelchair. But he was there for the last spring training game.
As Jake was aware of his limited time, he made the most of it. They talked for many hours about life in baseball, Brandon’s aspirations and the two. His father expressed his pride to him. In April, almost a month later, he passed away.
Brandon’s sister, Erin Marsh, is a track and field athlete
Brandon Marsh’s younger sister competes in track and field with the Duke Blue Devils. In college competition, she won two bronze medals, the heptathlon at the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Athletics Championships and the pentathlon at the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Athletics Championships .
