black adam cleared up any doubts haters had about the film and its cast. From stellar performances by all the cast to Dwayne Johnson’s badass portrayal of the anti-hero of old and even Henry Cavill’s return as Superman, the film didn’t disappoint at all. But let’s not forget there’s another one black adam star who received his fair share of praise from the public.

Aldis Hodge, who plays Hawkman in the film, recently revealed that during filming he was nervous about fighting Dwayne Johnson because he was afraid of scratching his face, which could halt all production on the film.

Black Adam might have stopped production because of Aldis Hodge

Earlier this month, Aldis Hodge sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about everything, Black Adam. He talked about how he felt about playing the character of the medieval mace-wielding Hawkman, how he trained to get in shape for the role, and his experiences filming alongside Dwayne Johnson. Speaking of all these things, a certain question about all the action scenes in the movie came up, and Hodge talked about a disturbing fear he had while filming the action sequence.

Crucially in the film, Black Adam gets his hands on Adrianna Tomaz (Sarah Shahi) and her son Amon (Bodhi Sabongui), with the intention of taking their lives. To save them, Hawkman must do everything in his power to stop Black Adam, which involved Hodge swinging Hawkman’s mace around like crazy. The only concern he had was that he might accidentally punch The Rock in the face and injure him, halting production.

“My lasting memory is that I never hit him. That was all I cared about. I’m serious. Swinging around that mace, man… I grew up as a fighter, and in terms of Real fights and stunts are all about understanding and knowing your distance. With real fights, you need to know exactly your distance and the distance of your opponent, so you know when to lock in, time and get out. With stunts, you have to know your distance to never touch the other person, but the mace required my arm to be fully extended, so I had to deal with understanding a different length because the mace added a few extra feet. And man, all I wanted was to go the day without scratching that man’s face ‘Cause if I scratched his face, and we had to shut it down because of me? bueno. But other than that, back problems are probably [the other lasting memory].”

Hawkman also establishes a “No Kill” policy as one of his personal ideals when it comes to taking down the bad guys and bringing justice, which is a lofty ideal to have when working for the Justice Society Of America. .

As many may recall, audiences were reintroduced to To Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller in black adam, who was revealed to be working with the JSA to keep metahuman lawlessness at bay. This led many to believe that this wasn’t the last we’d see the JSA in action. Plus, with Superman returning towards the end, opposite Black Adam, it’s become all too clear that we haven’t seen the last of Dwayne Johnson in the DCEU either!
