The highly anticipated star wars series The Acolyte is officially in production.
Disney has revealed the full cast of The Acolyteas well as a behind-the-scenes photo of the star wars series. The project is being developed for the Disney Plus streaming service, the home of the star wars shows The Mandalorian, Boba Fett’s Book, Obi Wan Kenobi and Andor.
Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman and Carrie-Anne Moss boarded The Acolyte, joining previously announced cast members Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto and Dafne Keen. Stenberg, Lee, and Jacinto would play the main characters in the upcoming series.
What is The Acolyte on?
According to reports, The Acolyte will take place about a century before the events of 2001 Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Disney’s description of the series reads, “A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they ever imagined.”
The Acolyte is developed by Leslye Headland, one of the creators of the hit Netflix series Russian doll. The series doesn’t yet have a premiere date for Disney Plus, but a late 2023 or early 2024 launch is likely given the project is already filming.
