After Chadwick Boseman’s very sad departure from cancer in 2020, the MCU is ready to move forward with the sequel. Black Panther (2018). The film introduces Namor, a mutant played by Tenoch Huerta, the ruler of the undersea kingdom Talokan, who is about to invade Wakanda as the Black Panther is no longer there to protect them from any threat.
The director has released a statement confirming that this mutant has promising feats of strength comparable to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, who is a Norse god as well as Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk if he’s near enough water.
What makes Namor so strong?
Marvel has always done a great job with their memorable and one-of-a-kind characters and the effort they put in is still evident in the trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, is apparently a mutant with abilities never seen before. The main antagonist of the upcoming film is seen to have ankle wings that make him fly as well as his ability to breathe underwater and at high altitudes make him unstoppable.

The director also noted that the character is another sovereign ruler, similar to Shuri and Queen Ramonda, which reinforces the ferocity the character would display to protect his homeland from any threat.
The actor’s comments on his character
The character of Namor, although explained, nevertheless carries a question mark. While the Wakanda-centric film casts the ruler of Talocan as an antagonist, actor Huerta shares contrary beliefs.
“To me, he’s just a hero. It’s not my job to think about how the world or the other characters look at it. How they perceive it is not my job. My job is that it has a strong motivation. He has a clear path, and he knows why it matters. It tries to protect itself and its entire culture and its people from the outside world, from the colonialism that tempts it against their values and the whole culture.

The actor clearly lives with the perception that his character is not driven by the desire to conquer but to protect. He is aware that Namor lives with the primary goal of keeping his people safe and hidden from the outside world, lest they fall prey to an unreliable war and crumble.
Speaking of the Feathered Serpent comments, director Ryan Coogler didn’t hesitate for a second to compare the water-breathing mutant to the power levels of Thor and Hulk.
“[There’s] unrivaled in terms of abilities, being able to breathe underwater and breathe at high altitudes and walk around on land,” Coogler said in an interview “He’s incredibly strong, he’s as strong as Thor, and if he’s around enough water, he can be as strong as the Hulk.”

Bearing in mind that Thor is a Norse god and the Hulk’s feats of strength are public information, the standard Namor is held to is no joke. The anti-hero could now hit the standards with his impressive performance or be the reason for Marvel fans’ disappointment. All in all, the mystery would be a key catalyst in keeping fans excited.
