Jalen Hurts’ mother, Pamela Hurts, and father, Averion Hurts, have been supportive of their son as he pursues his ambition to become a professional football player.
Averion Hurts, the father of Jalen Hurts, was his trainer.
In 1986, after Jalen’s father graduated from Channelview high school, he decided to start a coaching career almost soon after.
He was head football coach at Lee High School in Baytown, Texas for four years, but returned to his alma mater in 2006 to work with the football team there.
In addition to this, Averion holds a degree from Howard Payne University. In addition, he participated in school sports competitions, including track and field and football.
Averion Sr. coached his two sons, who both enjoyed successful careers in college football. Formerly the lead quarterback for the Texas Southern University football team, Averion Jr. is now the head coach of the University of Alabama football program.
Pamela Hurts, Jalen’s mother, is an educator
Pamela Hurts holds an MBA in addition to her two Bachelor of Arts degrees.
She is currently head of the special services department at Channelview, where she teaches math and physical education. In addition to this, she offers orientation advice to secondary school students.
Pamela was a working mother, but she and her husband never made raising their children a lower priority. His two children were each on a different varsity team, but their games were often scheduled to take place on the same day.
Even though the parents couldn’t be at both of their children’s games on the same day, at least one of them was always there to provide moral support.
