Will the remake do the classic film justice?
In 1999, The Mummy under the direction of Stephen Sommers and under the talents of Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser has undergone a noticeable makeover. The Mummy from 1999, however, adopted a more action-adventure style from Guadagnino’s original plan per his desire for a gruesome remake. It didn’t focus on the graphic details of the mummy’s decomposing body, but it retained the iconic figure of the monster that stood at the center of the original.
“This is an incredible question that I did not prepare myself [for]. Oh my god, what should I do? I think it would be amazing to do something about The Mummy. It’s a rotten body in rotten bandages, so what’s inside is [as] interesting like what’s out there. It should be very scary and very, very terminal. It should be a short movie but with a lot of depth and very scary.
