Kevin Feige calls Black Panther 2 the most important movie for Marvel Studios
Black Panther was among Marvel Studios’ most successful films. It was highly praised by critics and was also a box office hit. It also proved to be one of the most culturally significant films of all time. Shortly after its release, the studio confirmed a sequel to the 2018 film.
However, after the film’s main star Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020, the sequel became more of a challenge for the director and the studio. Writer and director, Ryan Coogler shared that he did everything he could to make the film.
Now studio head, Kevin Feige claimed that black panther 2 is the most important film the studio has worked on. In a Marvel Entertainment promo highlighting Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverKevin Feige shared that he “seems to be the most important film we’ve ever made.”
“We all firmly believe that this feels like the most important movie we’ve ever made. It’s what every crew member was focused on every day, and neither was Ryan Coogler at the helm of it all.” said Kevin Feige.
Ryan Coogler also mentioned that black panther 2 is a film about relationships and tackles the question of how to move forward after losing someone. The cast of the movie also liked the director and said he had such a big heart and was such a great storyteller.

Grieving was a big part of Black Panther 2, says Ryan Coogler
Ryan Coogler said that black panther 2 will be a tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman. And according to the response after its first screening, the film did it successfully. One of the critics said that the film “is a beautifully cathartic tribute to the legacy of Chadwick Boseman.”
Many have even pointed out that the cinematic universe has dealt with the dead before. But wakanda forever is different because it mirrors the loss of T’Chall in the movie and Chadwick Boseman in real life. The film’s cast experienced this loss throughout the film, as did the characters.
The film’s director also said grief was a big part of black panther 2. He shared that the original movie focused on King T’Challa, who found himself mourning the loss of time after suddenly coming back to life in Avengers: Endgame.
The 2018 film was praised for its positive portrayal of race, gender, and culture. Many aspects of the film were inspired by African culture. By introducing Tenoch Huerta’s Namor and his Mesoamerican-inspired kingdom of Talocan, the studio might be trying to do the same once again.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to release on November 11, 2022.
