Lin-Manuel Miranda has joined the highly anticipated Percy Jackson series on Disney Plus.
Deadline revealed that Lin-Manuel Miranda (hamilton, In the heights) signed as a guest star in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a new Disney Plus series based on the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles by author Rick Riordan. Miranda plays Hermes, the messenger god.
Walker Scobell leads the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series as the titular demigod. Leah Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri star as his best friends Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood. The full cast also includes Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Timm Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, Olivea Morton, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows Walker Scobell’s Percy Jackson as he ventures across America in search of the lost lightning bolt of Zeus, after being accused of stealing it himself. Percy is a demigod, the son of the Greek god Poseidon, who unites with other demigods at Camp Half-Blood.
The first official trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted at Disney’s D23 Expo, giving fans a look at the series. This is the second adaptation of Percy Jackson’s books following a series of films starring Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson.
Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan wrote the pilot for the Disney Plus series alongside Jon Steinberg, with James Bobin directing. Steinberg also oversees the series with his producing partner Dan Shotz. It is produced under 20th Television for Disney Plus.
