Age is something that rarely matters when it comes to the entertainment industry. Using special-grade prosthetics, industry-leading cosmetics, and the best CGI in the world, it’s not hard for anyone to look like they’re 30 or 80 years old. But what shows your age are your physical abilities and your limitations that come with age. It doesn’t matter how badly you want to do something, if you’re not able to do it, then it’s better to take precautions when playing your roles, or at least that’s what is advised in the industry.
But sometimes actors forget they’re only human, especially when you’re playing a character who is literally invincible in every way.
This situation is something Hugh Jackman remembers very well. During a shooting of his film The glutton a few years ago he was literally scolded by his wife for taking a back seat with aggressive action scenes because he was getting old for all of this.
The time Hugh Jackman was scolded by his wife
During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Hugh Jackman talked about his journey of playing Marvel Comics’ mutant OG in the entertainment industry. From the 2000s as the Adamantine-Clawed Superhuman to making his final appearance as Wolverine in 2017 Logan, Jackman talked about all the memories he made during his decade playing the character. When it came to his shoot for the glutton in Japan, he recalled an incident that made him realize he was actually himself rather than his on-screen character.

While filming one of the film’s most iconic scenes where he literally battles a horde of enemies atop a speeding bullet train, Hugh Jackman recalls hitting his head by getting caught in the wrong position during the scene. Thus, he was sent home early for a check for any major injuries he may have incurred. When his wife Deborra Lee Furness learned why he had come home early, Jackman obediently told her what had happened, and she did not take the news lightly.
“When I get thrown (from the high-speed train) and hang on the edge, I hit my head the wrong way. It was one of those days when I was sent home early and I had to leave early the next day to get my head checked for concussions and all that. I come home and my wife is like ‘Hi, why are you coming home so early’ and I say ‘We’re done over early’ and she’s like ‘Did someone hurt themselves?’ and I went ‘I hurt myself, I’m sorry.’ ‘Why don’t you use your doppelganger, you’re old, you’re not Wolverine'”
Well, that time may be long gone, but it looks like it won’t be long before we see Hugh Jackman engage with his claws again in the next one. Dead Pool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds.

Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3!
With Hugh Jackman set to return as Wolverine in the MCU alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, it’s only a matter of time before Jackman has to find himself in the middle of all the bloody, hardcore action once again. With Jackman now 54, it becomes a little worrying for him to take physical endurance seriously and it becomes important for him to slow down the action.
I guess his wife will be on edge during the entire filming of the film.
