The Marvel vs DC battles will continue to prevail for centuries. But the biggest one we want to see on the big screen is the one involving Captain Marvel and Superman. They are two extreme powerhouses in their respective comic factions, with only a few characters able to match their levels of strength and power. But people mostly end up comparing them to each other to see who would come out on top.
Captain Marvel and Superman are actually quite similar to what one might imagine. They are arguably the strongest members of their teams. Captain Marvel changed the game by End of Game upon entering the battlefield. And Superman did the same in the Snyder Cut and Josstice League editions. Their use in the movies and their powers are quite similar, which is why a Captain Marvel vs Superman encounter is always on the cards.
Now that Superman is back in business and James Gunn is in charge of DC, maybe he could call up his friend Kevin Feige and set up a match against Captain Marvel somewhere down the line. But before that happens, we’re going to play our own little game and predict the winner in a head-to-head clash.

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel
Carol was a capable Air Force pilot who got caught up in an alien war. Carol Danvers’ MCU origin is somewhat similar to the comics, but her specifics are quite different. For example, she was caught in an explosion from a Kree Psyche-Magneton device in the books. But in the MCU, it was a light-speed engine powered by the Tesseract (the space stone). And that, mixed with the added Kree blood in his veins, allowed him to become incredibly powerful. In fact, the MCU’s version of Captain Marvel is actually portrayed a little stronger than the comics.
Captain Marvel has a wide range of abilities. She can fly at insane speeds and fire photon blasts from her hands. As for her durability levels, she took the full brunt of a Power Stone punch and rebounded right back. And while battling Thanos, we also saw his greatest ability, which is energy absorption. Holding the Infinity Gauntlet, she absorbed the energy of six Infinity Stones and grew so strong that she withstood a direct headbutt from the Mad Titan without even flinching!

Her superhuman strength is depicted a bit further down in the comics as she could lift around 80 tons. But in its binary state, this force improves, along with all of its other abilities. We watch her access this binary state in the MCU quite regularly. But on top of that, Carol has the ability to survive in space. She possesses cosmic awareness and something called a “seventh sense” in the books. It works almost like Peter’s tingle and allows him to anticipate and react to incoming attacks.
So overall, she’s one of the four strongest MCU characters that exist in the MCU (if not the strongest of them all), and she would prove to be a worthy opponent…
Kal-El aka Clark Kent
As most of us know, Clark Kent is a powerful and talented journalist. But he is the last son of Krypton who was transported to Earth as an infant. Being a Kryptonian, his cells are supercharged by Earth’s yellow sun. And this nurturing input gives him his set of godlike abilities such as super hearing, super strength, x-ray vision, microscopic vision, heat vision, frozen breath, flight, durability, super speed and agility.
He is able to fly at speeds that might match even a speedster of his beginner level. His superhuman strength could destroy planets. His heat vision could even melt Vibranium. And once he is directly exposed to the yellow sun, his wounds instantly heal and his powers intensify. The only problem for him in most fights is that he has to hold back. But when he doesn’t, he becomes the most dangerous being in the universe.
But yes, it also has some weaknesses. It is vulnerable to red solar radiation, magic and Kryptonite (green). The red sun radiation does not harm him physically, but it takes away his powers and does not make him stronger than an average human. But opponents using magic or Kryptonite could physically weaken him or even kill him. So, these three elements could be used against him in a fighting match. But still, let’s see how he would fare in a fight against Danvers.

Captain Marvel vs. the Man of Steel
A fight between these two behemoths would have to happen in a barren world or somewhere deep in the cosmos, because everything around them would crumble and fall. They are both stronger than planets and possess abilities that could counter each other’s powers. They are equal in most cases and their fight would last a very long time. But you have to agree that Superman has more downsides.
He is faster and more agile than Danvers, but his seventh sense allows him to defend and counter accordingly. Her “icy breath” could hold her down long enough for him to attack, but she would get back up right away, like she did against Thanos. Superman would be able to withstand Carol’s photon blasts, but Carol, on the other hand, would not only withstand her heat vision, she would be empowered with her energy absorption ability.
Marvel has hinted at Carol’s weakness against magic several times in the books. But in a battle against Superman, she is virtually invulnerable. She won’t have to use Kryptonite to defeat him as she could take advantage of the sun’s red radiation. In its binary form, it has the ability to access all kinds of solar radiation, including red solar radiation. Thus, an attack with it would weaken Superman long enough for Carol to triumph.
Therefore, Captain Marvel would be the ultimate victor unless Superman finds a way to steal her powers first, just like the Scarlet Witch did during their recent slugfest (Multiverse of Madness).
