In the wake of the upcoming sequel to the first Black Panther (2018), the actor playing anti-hero Namor, Tenoch Huerta has expressed interest in directing a solo film that would portray the story of Marvel’s first mutant. While the idea of a Namor-centric movie has the potential to be a blockbuster, the actor isn’t sure if it could actually happen. Huerta mentioned that it depends on Kevin Feige as well as the reaction Black Panther: Wakanda Forever gets audiences after its release.
The comic book-inspired mutant role of Namor in the film is also a big prospect for the MCU’s introduction to X-Men, preceded by the streaming of Ms. Marvel on Disney+.

“I would love to, but I don’t know. It depends on what Kevin Feige says he wants. It depends on the inbox. It depends on the people and how many tickets they buy. So please: buy lots of tickets. Huerta said in a recent interview with Digital Spy.
Even Kevin Fiege, the film’s producer, has raised the prospect of a Namor solo film, the possibility of it depends on the reception of black panther 2. He even told Marvel that a script was prepared for the character, but it didn’t follow through due to timing, and the idea never came off right.

What would a Namor solo film entail?
It’s no surprise that Namor, Marvel’s first mutant, has an undeniable power that complements his unique gifts. According to director Ryan Coogler, Namor possesses strength comparable to Thor and even the Hulk, in specific instances. Keeping Huerta’s perception in mind, Namor is more of an anti-hero than an antagonist, who protects his nation only to let it fall prey to threats from the outside world.
Namor’s prominent appearances in the Marvel comics add to all the possibilities for the plot of a Namor solo film if he does come out. Even introducing Namor’s undersea kingdom, Talokan, with all its culture and glory would add to the richness of a Namor-centric story.
