James Gunn just dropped a massive bombshell on DC fans by posting a photo of intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo after joining a new social media platform following his departure from Twitter, which is now under the full control of the CEO of SpaceX, Elon Musk.
The message might not have been so important if DC star Jason Momoa hadn’t teased fans about one of his dream projects just recently. But he did. And the Peacemaker the director just put up a picture of Lobo? Coincidence much? Maybe not.
Fans are especially convinced that this is a very elaborate way to hint that Jason Momoa will reprise the character of Lobo in the future, given that James Gunn has already revealed that DC is working on something big.
Has James Gunn hinted at the possibility of Jason Momoa playing Lobo?
Since business mogul Elon Musk bought ownership of Twitter, several celebrities have been seen migrating to different social media sites, indicating their disapproval of the whole situation. Whereas dead Pool star Ryan Reynolds quirky on Tumblr, new DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn joined Mastodon’s social network, announcing his arrival in the most epic way possible, posting a photo of Czarnia’s alien Lobo , from the comics.
Worth noting is that in a recent interview with entertainment tonightJason Momoa has revealed his excitement for a dream project that will soon turn into reality now that Gunn and Safran have taken over the superhero franchise.

“I think with Peter Safran and Mr. Gunn leading DC, I’m very excited about this. There are a lot of cool things that are going to happen. One of my dreams will come true under their watch. So stay tuned.”
Although he did not specify what the project might consist of, he published a video in which he mentioned having received “the greatest news of his life” the same day. And fans think Gunn’s recent post about Lobo might just be related to Momoa’s secret project.
Can Jason Momoa play Aquaman as well as Lobo?
Although there has been no official word on the Courageous actor taking on the role of the interstellar mercenary seems like a solid possibility, especially given the fact that Gunn tweeted about the DCU expansion as a whole “new universe” claiming fans were in for a monumental surprise with “The Greatest Story Ever Told” in the works “across multiple films, TV shows, and animated projects.” Sure, that was before he left the platform, but that doesn’t change anything.

Of course, Momoa is already playing the superhero persona of Aquaman, and has also directed a movie of the same name with a sequel in the works. But with the way things are changing in DC and keeping in mind the crumbs that Gunn dropped, anything could be possible, even Momoa coming to the screen as Lobo.

People seem fully convinced that Conan the Barbarian The star is next in line to play Lobo after Emmett J Scanlan who portrayed the character in SyFy’s second season Krypton, but failed to impress the audience. Additionally, Momoa mentioned being interested in the character for quite a while now. So, maybe he really gets his dream role.
Momoa was probably teasing this yesterday as her “best news ever.” It has been said for years that he would be the perfect Lobo and that it would be amazing. But how? Probably restart a game of DCU where the Aquaman franchise is restarted and then he can play Lobo. They need a new Mera anyway, so possible.

While fans continue to expect Gunn to introduce the character of Lobo through Jason Momoa, the latter already has a major project ahead of him with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom scheduled for release on December 25, 2023. But who knows, Gunn might even prove extremely generous and let the actor play two characters or reboot the Aquaman franchise, as fans seem to speculate.
Either way, this could be a huge win for DC.
