No matter how much we love the progress of the future, there is always a charm in things from a bygone era. Whether it’s classic Beatles music or nostalgia for vintage gadgets, it’s always a welcome sight to see them all with your own eyes in the future. The same goes for the appearances of our beloved superheroes with their previous versions wearing those iconic costumes, just something about them that gets fans excited.
With those sentiments, fans were left a bit bummed when Zack Snyder decided to go all out with Bat Armor when he created his universe with his iteration of Batman.
But as the gears at DC Films shift, with James Gunn now the head of the studio, fans are cheering him on to bring back the iconic gray and blue Batman suit to become the next mainstream call for the world’s greatest detective.
Fans want the blue and gray jumpsuit back
Following DC Films’ big management shakeup, fans were treated to a pleasant surprise when James Gunn and Peter Safran were named to lead the division. This was truly exciting news, as the state of the DCEU was confusing, to say the least, and abysmal to put it bluntly. With Gunn’s arrival, studio fans were more than happy to have someone on board who had experience with the DC and Marvel Cinematic Universes.

Now, as with any new direction, there are a lot of expectations from the fans. One such expectation from many Batman fans was to reintroduce the classic icon of the blue and gray Batsuit in action. Fans have taken to social media to express their wishes in hopes that James Gunn will get their wishes.
Anytime James Gunn works with Batman in the DCU (whether it’s a project he’s leading or just overseeing), hopefully we get to see Batman in the blue and gray suit at least Once. I would love to see the blue and gray suit in an action movie. pic.twitter.com/QEj3kuJuiA

We were close with Battinson and I hope they consider giving him a costume like this in the future pic.twitter.com/lHRRlOvXpp

If we get a blue and gray costume, hopefully it will be a new costume and not a recolor.
(Also, I think it would be cool to have Affleck in the blue suit as he’s become more and more of a hero since his darkest days. That fits thematically in my opinion)

As these demands grow in popularity, it’s possible Gunn will pick up on the hint and finally bring classic blue and gray back into the mainstream.

What is the future of Batman?
Since Batman’s shaky start in the DCEU, we’ve had a lot of changes and witnessed plenty of rumors about Ben Affleck. And with the introduction of Robert Pattinson’s version with The Batman, things had remained more or less uncertain for the most part. But now, with confirmations from Ben Affleck and DC Films of Affleck’s return as a vigilante crime solver, we have a glimmer of hope for Batman’s future in the revamped DCU.
