It’s clear that Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. Discovery don’t mix well these days. After having to withdraw from Justice League (2017), Joss Whedon took over directing, but the film was a massive flop.
Fans then asked WB to release the Snyder Cut of the film, which Warner Bros. was forced to publish. A new story tells us that the acclaimed director was set to make a movie about Alexander the Great but was rejected by WB for depicting… a same-sex relationship.

Talk to The Fourth Wall Podcast per The Playlist, Zack Snyder has revealed his plans for the franchise’s canceled third installment and the birth of Blood and Ashes.
“I couldn’t really get into it. During the pandemic, I had a deal with Warner Brothers, and I wrote what was essentially going to be the final chapter of 300.”
The Justice League director continued,
“But when I sat down to write it, I actually wrote a different movie. I was writing this stuff about Alexander the Great, and it turned into a movie about the relationship between Hephaestion and Alexander. It turned out to be a love story, so it really didn’t fit with the third movie.
Warner Bros. Discovery (formerly Warner Bros.) had to turn the director down because the tone of the story didn’t match much with previous films in the franchise. The director ended his comments on the fact that Warner Bros. Discovery is not a big fan of him.

“But there was this concept, and it went really well. It’s called Blood and Ashes, and it’s a beautiful love story, really, with war. I would love to do it, WB has say no…you know, they’re not big fans of mine. That’s the way it is.”
