On November 11, 2022, Ash Ketchum, after 25 long years, finally became the world champion of the Pokémon World Coronation Series Masters Eight tournament. The evergreen character first set out to fulfill his dream of becoming the world’s greatest Pokemon trainer and “catch ’em all” (of course) in 1997. The Japan premiere is making history by finally making the long-sought dream come true for not only Ash Ketchum, but also Pokemon fans around the world in the latest episode of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series.

Ash Ketchum Becomes an Unstoppable Pokemon Champion
In the 25th season of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series which was only recently created in Japan, Ash Ketchum defeated Leon, who is best known among video game fans as the champion of the Galar region of Pokémon Sword and Shield. The ultimate tournament to declare the one true champion among all regional competitors finally came to a head in the final bout of the series tournament which saw individual supreme battles against trainers like Iris, Steven, Cynthia and Lance.

During the World Coronation Series Tournament, a few words could explain the fight that ensued in the heat of battle of the greatest Pokémon and trainers who clashed. Facing Leon and his Charizard, Ash and his Pikachu ultimately won the final battle that secured the Pokémon Trainer’s place as the best in the land. This latter duo have had their fair share of battles throughout their 25-year journey together. However, this fight was a definitive marker of the long road it took for the world of Pokémon to finally declare its protagonist hero world champion.
Ash Ketchum’s journey through the years (1997-2022)
The 10-year-old hero of Pallet Town, too big for any role in his hometown, set out to fulfill his dream 25 years ago. Miraculously though, Ash Ketchum grew in experience but not in age. Over the years, the Pokémon hero has fought in definitive battles, faced countless times against the ever-evil and antagonistic Team Rocket – Jessie & James with their talking Meowth Pokémon, and traveled the expanse of the world to find allies in unexpected places and cherish the friendships along the way.

With reactions pouring in from around the world, nothing beats the feeling of a glorified battle to mark your place as the true victor and champion. Although the 10-year-old has had his fair share of titles to claim, the latest, strongest of all Pokémon League champions, has to be the ultimate notch in the belt.
