Alec Baldwin files a complaint Rust crew members after allegedly handing him a loaded gun that killed the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. The actor accuses those in charge of the armory of negligence and of having provided him with a deadly weapon.
On Friday, Baldwin filed the lawsuit as a counterclaim to a case filed against him last year. Mamie Mitchell claimed the shooting incident caused severe trauma to her and other members at the scene. The litigation is still ongoing as the judge refuses to dismiss the actor as a defendant.

Alec Baldwin sues Rust crew members for negligence
Baldwin blames gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the person in charge of weapons and ammunition. He’s also suing assistant director Dave Halls for handing him the gun and telling the actor he was safe. Baldwin also blames Sarah Zachry who is in charge of props, and Seth Kenney who acts as the weapons and ammunition supplier on set.
The Rust star is seeking to clear his name of the charge against him. Luke Nikas, the actor’s attorney, reads the counterclaim filed in Los Angeles Superior Court:
“This tragedy happened because live ammunition was delivered to the set and loaded into the gun, Gutierrez-Reed did not carefully check the bullets or the gun, Halls did not carefully check the gun and yet announced that the gun was safe before handing it over to Baldwin, and Zachry did not reveal that Gutierrez-Reed acted recklessly on set and posed a safety risk to those around him.”

Baldwin insists he didn’t pull the trigger on his interview with ABC News, but according to a New Mexico medical examiner, the cinematographer’s way of dying was a bullet to the chest. The FBI suggested that the gun would not fire unless the trigger was pulled.
Attorneys for Gutierrez-Reed, Halls, Zachry and Kenney are still unavailable for comment, but they all deny responsibility for the shooting incident. Baldwin admits to losing work plans after the tragedy.
Fans believe Alec Baldwin was responsible for the incident
In October 2021, the actor accidentally fired live ammunition on the set of Rust, which injured director Joel Souza and killed Halyna Hutchins. The public, however, does not buy Baldwin’s claim and they believe it was all on him. Check out their tweets:
Yes. Yes. it’s such a thing for Alec Baldwin to do. Kill a woman then pursue all the others.

Alec Baldwin has an outlet for us. As the producer of “Rust”, he is responsible for everything that happened on his set. Yet he is suing his crew for damages when HE pulled the fucking trigger and killed a woman! Balls on this psychopath.

Alec Baldwin pointed a loaded gun at people and pulled the trigger.
He’s a murderer, and he negligently harmed another person.
His name will never be erased.

He is SO democratic. Getting away (so far) from killing someone, and now HE’s going to sue… https://t.co/wmfA4jem9c

Matthew Hutchins, the victim’s husband, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Alec Baldwin and sought compensation for damages. Last month the two sides settled and Hutchins said his wife’s death was a terrible accident.
Filming is also set to resume next year, with Halyna’s husband taking over as executive producer.
