Chadwick Boseman made his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War as Wakanda’s Prince T’Challa, which was already considered by many to be one of the best performances in the MCU. Later he starred in his solo movie Black Panther, which went down in history as one of the most successful Marvel Studios projects in history, both critically and financially. After his unfortunate passing on August 28, 2020, fans were in shock and sadness, trying to hold back their grief and asking what to expect from the next Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
But it seems Boseman had a sixth sense about the upcoming film, particularly about actor Tenoch Huerta’s ability to give audiences the performance of a lifetime.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Director Ryan Coogler has revealed that before his death, Chadwick Boseman prophesied that Tenoch Huerta would mesmerize audiences with his performance as Namor The Sub-Mariner.

Chadwick Boseman was one of those industry players who was always held in high regard by his co-actors and friends. He was always said to be one of the funniest people to work with, and so people were drawn to him. After his performance in Black Panther, the fandom has come to revere him as one of the greatest of all time, claiming that half of the reason for the film’s success was because of him. But little did audiences know that Boseman himself was excited about another actor’s entry into the MCU who he believed was going to be unexpected by audiences to surprise them.

Ryan Coogler, sitting with Entertainment Weekly, recalled the time he once had a conversation with the deceased. Chadwick Boseman on Tenoch Huerta as Namor and his appearance in the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Coogler said Boseman said Huerta’s entrance as Namor was something that audiences weren’t ready for and that it would take them by surprise. He said:
“I had spoken with Chad [Boseman] about this aspect of the script [introducing Talokan], and he was really excited. It was something that excited him. I remember we were at a restaurant in Los Feliz the first time we talked about possibly having Native American representation in the movie. He had the biggest smile, like, ‘They’ll never see this coming. It’s awesome.'”
That heartfelt reminiscence was the trait his friends and colleagues say reminded them of Boseman, and he was right to bet on Tenoch Huerta to bring his beliefs to life. With the sequel now out, fans are swooning over his performance as Namor The Sub-Mariner.

What’s next for Namor after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
After the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it’s a bit ambiguous what Namor’s next adventure in the MCU would look like. Starring in Marvel Studios’ latest Phase 4 movie, Tenoch Huerta has yet to confirm whether he will return as Namor in Phase 5 and/or Phase 6. But seeing the fan reaction to his performance as a sub, he wouldn’t be surprised if his return is sooner than we think.
