RRR was released in March of this year with Ram Charan and Jr NTR starring in the film, leaving audiences blown away and later becoming a complete box office success. A sequel could also be in the works, as confirmed by director SS Rajamouli in an interview.
The second installment is currently in development and the famous director has revealed that his father is writing the screenplay. In his interview with India todayHe shared, “My father is a screenwriter for all my films. We talked a bit about RRR 2, and he’s working on the story.”

SS Rajamouli hinted that RRR sequel will be coming in the future
Earlier this year, SS Rajamouli was asked about the film’s sequel to which he gave a subtle hint. RRR 2 was definitely destined to happen. The director added:
“Let cool. Of course, for me, it would be a great pleasure, not because of what it will do at the box office, but because I will have more time to spend with my brothers. It will be more exciting for me. But let time unravel what we have.”
The plot of RRR follows the gripping tale of Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). Set in the distant past, the 1920s, India was then ruled by the British monarch. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris and Shriya Saran.

RRR receives recognition in Western theaters
Rajamouli spoke about the film’s success and global recognition at an event. He admitted that he did not expect it to reach a global audience, especially in Western cinema. The amazed director later revealed:
“I didn’t even want that. When RRR came out (in the West) I started getting the answers, I thought maybe there were a few. Then a few became hundreds, and hundreds became thousands, and filmmakers from different fields were talking highly of RRR, I realized something I never knew about myself or my films. I’m still trying to figure it out to be very honest.”
