Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Returns in Stunning Concept Design for Ryan Reynolds’ Star Dead Pool 3.
In the 17 years he portrayed Wolverine for 20th Century Fox’s live-action X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman never got to wear the character’s classic yellow and blue costume from the comic books. Arguments against using this costume were because it would look too goofy on screen, especially since Fox’s X-Men films had a very distinct tone to be taken more seriously.
Regardless of the grounded approach to his look, critics and audiences alike welcomed Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, with the actor spending nearly two decades in the role. Even with that in mind, some fans are still wondering what the comic book version of his costume would have looked like on the big screen, and Instagram user “Skull101ify” shared this remarkable concept of Jackman wearing Jackman’s costume. Ryan Reynolds. Dead Pool 3. You can check out the design below.
Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine for the yet to come third title dead Pool movie opposite Ryan Reynolds. Shawn Levy is directing the feature from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the screenwriters behind the first two dead Pool movies.
This classic costume concept gives Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine a more subdued color scheme that would have worked well with what Fox x-men established franchise with both the original cast era of 2000 and 2011 X-Men: First Class era that ended with the studio’s final X-Men movie dark phoenix.
The first two dead Pool the films were produced by 20th Century Fox prior to the studio’s acquisition by The Walt Disney Company. Dead Pool 3 is being written as the first film in the series set in the Marvle Cinematic Universe.
This artwork may inspire artists at Marvel Studios to bring Wolverine’s iconic costume to life on the big screen for the first time. And given the MCU’s background, it’ll likely opt for a comic book-accurate jumpsuit and perhaps have a brighter color scheme to further distinguish their take on mutants from the previous iteration.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has previously spoken of his excitement for Dead Pool 3 and the opportunity to work with Ryan Reynolds. “[It’s] a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature… [it’s] just awesome to see him bring that character to life,” Feige said at the time.
