Featuring the cult superhero action/horror film Constantine getting a sequel, Keanu Reeves is ready to exorcise more demons with retaliation for his role as the fearsome John Constantine. However, while Constantine was made under the rules of a PG-13 movie, director Francis Lawrence plans to create and release the sequel as an R-rated movie.
The award-winning filmmaker who helmed the first film is also set to return to guide the sequel and seems to have some definite ideas regarding the new movie as he plans to get it rated R.

Talk with The envelope about his next fantasy/adventure named Slumberland on Netflix, Francis Lawrence was asked to shed light on the progress of Constantine 2 when the red sparrow The director has revealed his plans to release the sequel as an R-rated movie, meaning if he has the freedom to run things his own way.
Lawrence recalled how during the making of Constantine, they had been tasked with creating a PG-13 movie, only to receive an R rating which ended up disrupting the true nature of the first part. “One of the biggest things for me about the first one was that we followed, according to Warner Bros., the rules for making a PG-13 movie in terms of violence, blood, language, sexuality. But the rating board gave us a hard R based on their gray area of intensity. And my big, big regret was that we got an R-rated movie that was really a PG-13 movie. And if I had to get an R, I would have really made an R-rated movie. I would have made it a lot scarier and a lot more violent and I would have really made an R-rated movie.
So, fans should most likely buckle up to witness more gore and violence in the upcoming superhero horror sequel.

With Lawrence set to direct the sequel, John Wick Star Keanu Reeves will reprise the role of the exorcist, and Akiva Goldsman is on board as the film’s screenwriter. While the film crew don’t yet have a proper script per se, Lawrence says they’ve brainstormed a slew of ideas regarding Constantine 2.
“We have seeds of ideas and dedication. And Keanu and I have been hanging out for a while and we always wanted to do this. It’s just that we’ve finally cleared the hurdle of when we can step forward and really do it. Now we just have to roll up our sleeves and dive in. But we have lots of ideas.
