The Suicide Squad star Sylvester Stallone has unfinished business with King Shark.
Last year, The Suicide Squad introduced audiences to Nanaue, aka King Shark, with Sylvester Stallone voicing the iconic DC Comics character. With the DC Universe now in the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran, two of the people behind The Suicide SquadStallone is convinced that we haven’t seen the last fan-favorite man-eating shark.
While making the rounds of the press for his new Paramount Plus new series king of tulsaSylvester Stallone spoke to ComicBook.com and teased the DC Universe return of King Shark.
“Yes of course. I think James has been very generous… Him and I are pretty close. So if there’s an opportunity… I love him, he’s great,” Stallone told the site.
The Suicide Squad This was the second time James Gunn Sylvester Stallone had worked on a comic book-related project together. Stallone also played Stakar Ogord AKA Starhawk in the Marvel Studios feature film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, written and directed by Gunn. He’s set to reprise the role for its follow-up, which is currently slated to hit theaters in May 2023.
Last month, James Gunn and Peter Safran signed a four-year contract to lead DC Studios. The division is now in charge of DC’s film, television and animation efforts at Warner Bros. Discovery, bringing together the company’s comic-related assets under one roof.
James Gunn is expected to focus on the creative direction of the DC Universe while Peter Safran will handle business and production. They will report directly to the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, and will collaborate with co-directors from Warner Bros. Film Group, Michael DeLuca and Pam Abdy.
