Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been best friends for years. The bromance they share is very rare to see in Hollywood. Known for portraying Deadpool and Wolverine in the Superhero category, the duo have become immensely close over the years.
But how did it all start? Back in 2009 when Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman had just met on the set of a x-men movie and they started… a little teasing.

In the brand new popular x-men franchise, the acting duo met for the first time. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman first met on the sets of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). More so, the actors played the role of their iconic characters, namely Deadpool and Logan in the movie.

After years, Hugh Jackman revealed to The daily beast the origins of his friendship with the Deadpool actor and how they became friends. The conversation included their hilarious banter on social media, pranks on each other, and finally, their important friendship that may have started with… Scarlett Johansson.
“How did this start? It’s been so long now…God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone on too long, where you don’t even know why or how it started! said Hugh Jackman.
Ryan Reynolds was married to Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson from 2008 to 2011. At the time, Scarlett Johansson was best friends with Hugh Jackman. The duo also starred in Christopher Nolan Prestige (2006) and were quite close. Jackman jokingly warned Ryan Reynolds to take care of her best friend.
“I met him on Wolverine, and I used to bore him because I was really close with Scarlett, and Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set, I got said, ‘Hey, you better have your best behavior here, mate, ’cause I’m watching,’ and we started hanging out that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and he called and tried to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted”
Following their conversation, Ryan Reynolds posed as Hugh Jackman with Deadpool makeup still on him. The free guy the actor even did his Australian accent impression. Hugh Jackman reposted the video to his Instagram and made the feud public. Since then, it’s been a series of pranks and insults for the duo.

The duo recently announced their union when Dead Pool 3 was announced. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine aka Logan alongside Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson. This will mark Wolverine’s official entry into the MCU when Dead Pool 3 versions.
The duo have always played cameos in films whenever they were together, but will officially star in the same film in Dead Pool 3. Hugh Jackman played a masked guy in Ryan Reynolds’ star free guy (2021) and of course, X-Men Origins: Wolverine where they first met.
Ryan Reynolds recently starred with Will Ferrel in a Christmas movie titled Fiery which was released on November 11, 2022 and will be available to stream on Apple TV+ on November 18. Meanwhile, Dead Pool 3 is slated for a November 8, 2024 release date in theaters across the United States.
