Christopher Nolan is a legendary director these days, but needless to say, he had to go through a lot to get where he is. And one of the craziest incidents he’s been involved in happened with director David O. Russell. He was working on his popular comedy film, I Heart Huckabeesmeanwhile Nolan was working on Memento. Both directors wanted Jude Law to star in their film. But apparently, O. Russell physically attacked Nolan to get him to release Law from Memento.
Jude Law’s request!
Several reports have suggested that Nolan offered Law a substantial part in his reverse gear film. But he had to kick the actor out of the project because of what David O. Russell did to him. New York Times revealed that when Nolan and Russell met at a Hollywood party, the latter humiliated and embarrassed the former by physically attacking him.

David O. Russell literally fought for Jude Law
O. Russell was determined to have Jude Law in his film. But when Nolan offered the actor a role in Mementothe I Heart Huckabees the director began looking for Jim Carrey to replace Law. And yet he literally pressurized The black Knight director by putting him in a strangled headlock in front of all the guests. He asked Nolan to let Jude Law go as a sign of “artistic solidarity”. And guess what, Law joined the cast of I Heart Huckabees the very next day as O. Russell literally used the power of seniority. Crazy eh!?

This public display was completely juvenile to say the least, but O. Russell finally got what he wanted. There’s no excuse for what he did, but after a few years he revealed the kind of pressure he was under doing I Heart Huckabees and even called it his worst job. He called it his “midlife crisis movie” and added:
“I was exploring these ideas of hiring someone to spy on you and then tell you about your life if you were in a crisis like me. “What should I do with my marriage? What should I do with my bipolar child? But in retrospect, I thought about it too much. There was too much worry around that, and I checked a bit. If I could remake the film, proud as I am of many parts, I would make it moist and intimate.
Well, it’s obvious his stress got the better of him when he lost his temper against Nolan. But ultimately, the movies that these two directors ended up making became cult classics with the cast they eventually had. So, all’s well that ends well? It’s up to you !
