The first adaptations of Percy Jackson failed to impress the author of the novel series. Thus, Rick Riordan said he would be heavily involved in the Disney+ series. Walker Scobell is set to take on the series lead role. Leah Sava and Aryan Simhadri are cast as Percy’s best friends, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood respectively.
In September 2022, Disney released the teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, giving Walker Scobell’s first look at Percy Jackson. The Disney+ series is set to follow the first book in the novel series, The Lightning Thief. The latest updates have revealed that the series has now added two more actors to portray the Greek gods, Hades and Hephaestus.

Jay Duplass and Timothy Omundson join Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Jay Duplass and Timothy Omundson have joined the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Jay Duplass will play the role of Hades and Omundson will portray Hephaestus. So far, the series has chosen five of the 12 Olympians. The official Percy Jackson Twitter account shared the news.
The tweet said, “An announcement like [hot] like the river Phlegethon. Welcome to #PercyJackson and the Olympians!” The Psych The star also responded to her casting by tweeting, “I must say that I like playing (a) god.” Jay Duplass shared the news by retweeting the premiere Percy Jackson casting station.
Timothy Omundson is known for portraying supernatural and divine characters in several shows. Duplass is also popular for his work in Transparent, The Mindy Project, and his appearance in the second season of Industry.
In Percy Jackson and the Olympians Hades is the god of the underworld. The official character description describes him as an outcast, resenting past wrongs.
Hephaestus is the god of blacksmiths. His mother Hera threw him off Mount Olympus, leading him to become disabled. Even so, Hephaestus’ kindness sets him apart from his siblings.

Rick Riordan says Percy Jackson and the Olympians Will end shortly
The author of the original novel series has revealed that filming for the series is nearly complete. The teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians gives the first look at Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson.
It will consist of eight episodes and is slated for release in 2024. Although previous adaptations of the series have aged the main character to 16, the Disney+ series plans to follow the story as it is in the books.
Riordan has provided updates on its developments on its website. The latest updates available on her website revealed that filming will be wrapping up shortly. He also praised the cast, including Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri.
The Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, should follow the events of the first book in the series The Lightning Thief. It will focus on Percy Jackson coming to terms with his powers. The sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing the lightning master. After that, Percy Jackson begins his journey to find him.
The official release date of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is not yet disclosed.
