The past two years have been pretty “wild” for Olivia Wilde. It was like a roller coaster ride with really high and steep ups and downs. Only the fall seems to last forever now. One minute she was with Jason Sudeikis. But then rumors that she was cheating on him with Harry Styles started while she was leading don’t worry darling. They may or may not have been true, but Florence Pugh found herself in the middle of controversy. Wilde had a falling out with Shia LaBeouf and her movie didn’t do well at all. Then it was later confirmed that the friendship between Wilde and Harry Styles had turned into something romantic. But now, almost 2 years later, even that whirlwind romance has come to an end.
The timeline of Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles’ relationship
The 28-year-old British singer met the 38-year-old director on the sets of don’t worry darling in September 2020, and the two just clicked! They were spotted as a couple while attending a wedding together in January 2021. Since then, they have been publicly praising each other and stories of their love life have been seen all over the internet.

Things got pretty intense between Wilde and Styles as they were both very defensive and protective of their relationship. Both wanted things to remain “private”. But as is common with many of these public figure romances, things tend to go pretty easy on the internet. Back in October PEOPLE reported that their relationship was still thriving. But now, a month later, they’ve said Styles and Wilde are “to make a break” and continue their career.
Why the relationship ended
A source close to PEOPLE told them why, writing:
“He is still on tour and is now going abroad. She focuses on her children and her work in Los Angeles. It’s a very friendly decision. They are still very close friends.
Well, we’ve read past reports claiming that Wilde and Styles are making constant efforts to make things work between them despite their busy schedules. But it seems like it just wasn’t supposed to happen for them.

In October, we also received reports claiming that Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles had discussed their intention to marry. In fact, Wilde was apparently pressuring Styles to propose, as a source claimed she “makes it very clear that she wants to put an official seal on the relationship” because she finds that “It’s not enough for her to be boyfriend and girlfriend anymore.” She “wants the whole shebang. There’s no other guy she can imagine building a life with, and it doesn’t make sense to drag her feet on something they’ve both already agreed they want.
It is therefore possible that Styles has cold feet. Maybe he wasn’t ready for an engagement yet, so the couple called it quits.
