HBO The White Lotus has been renewed for a third season. Mike White’s anthology series is currently in its second season with only three out of seven episodes airing so far. Each season features a new cast, a group of guests living in a different White Lotus resort.
The first episode was filmed in Hawaii, while the second is currently set in Sicily. What started as an experimental show in the middle of the pandemic season has become one of the most discussed and critically acclaimed shows. Obviously, no one expected it to explode.

HBO’s The White Lotus is getting a third season
HBO Executive Vice President Francesca Orsi said Variety:
“Reflecting on The White Lotus’ humble run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be amazed at how Mike orchestrated one of the most spirited and acclaimed shows by criticism..”
The first season premiered in July 2021, and it had viewers and critics alike, glued to their screens and so engrossed in the drama of each episode. And to everyone’s surprise, The White Lotus received 20 Emmy nominations, winning 10 of them, such as Best Anthology Series, Best Actress and Supporting Actor for Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Barlett.
The first season also featured Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Molly Shannon, Fred Hechinger, Jake Lacy, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, Steve Zahn, and Brittany O’Grady.
The second season currently stars F. Murray Abraham, Aubrey Plaza, Michael Imperioli, Will Sharpe, Theo James, Jon Gries, Tom Hollander, Sabrina Impacciatore, Meghann Fahy, Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Granno, Haley Lu Richardson, Simona Tabasco and Leo Woodall. . Coolidge also returned for this season.
Orsi praised Mike White’s hard work and dedication to the show. The program manager added:
“He only continued to reach new heights in Season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw and unparalleled vision. His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, coupled with his irreverent humor and dynamic filmmaking style, has us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we love. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have the chance to collaborate on a third season together..”
White says there’s no place he’d rather work than HBO. The director also noted that he loves partnering with Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their crew.

Westworld’s surprise cancellation left fans stunned
Meanwhile, fans are still undecided that HBO unexpectedly canceled Westworld before the story even ends. The show ended in season 4, news that broke everyone’s heart. The series was one of the most critically acclaimed shows, earning 54 Emmy nominations and a Best Supporting Actress win for Thandiwe Newton.
Jonathan Nolan, co-creator of the show, said Deadline that they are negotiating with HBO to renew the series for a fifth season.
“We have always planned a fifth and final season. We are still in conversation with the network. We hope to do well with them.”
This cancellation was due to the declining ratings of the third season, which fell further during the fourth. Fans also found the story confusing at times. There’s also the threat from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to impose a cost cut. For now, fans could only hope for a miracle.
The White Lotus Season 2 is currently airing on HBO.
