But it looks like the Hulk King might have ended differently, especially when it comes to how he looks after filming, as a Marvel VFX artist recently revealed they deliberately did the Sleepless night the character of the actor looks uglier.
Apparently while working on Todd Hulk the visual effects team ended up making him rather appealing which is exactly what Marvel Studios didn’t want as the team was then asked to take him down a notch and don’t make it look like him. was a model for Vogue.

Marvel Wanted John Bass’ Todd Hulk To Look Unattractive
In an interview with Before and after, Guy Williams, Wētā FX’s visual effects supervisor, spoke about what it was like working on the character of She-Hulk on the show when he revealed the reality behind one of the characters that made his appearance as the Hulk towards the end. Williams explained how while working on Jon Bass’ Todd Phelps and his Hulk transformation, their team was asked by Marvel Studios to make his character much less appealing.
“One of the problems we had was that we took the actor and did a version of the Hulk to start with, and the studio came back and said, ‘No, no, no, no, he’s the bad guy. . He must look bad. He can’t look so good.

The Marvel VFX artist joked that Todd looked like “an absolute Adonis” as the Hulk King and mentioned how this in turn was a major challenge for the team to overcome.
“It turns out that when you take this actor and make him 7’1” and give him huge Hulk-like muscles and chisel his face, he turns into an absolute Adonis. He was just too attractive – that was the challenge we had with Todd.
Usually the issues that tend to arise in situations like this happen to be the other way around with characters not looking the mark, but of course the way Marvel operates isn’t normal.

Digging deeper, Williams talked about how his team managed to make Bass’ character more unappealing and even repulsive. From ruining her hair to giving her “spots and stains” they certainly left nothing out.
“We had to make his face lean very heavily into blemishes and blemishes so he wouldn’t look too good. We took his pretty good haircut and just messed him up even more like he just rolled over to make him look a little more manic.

A while ago, however, Jan Philip Cramer, another popular Marvel VFX artist who also worked on Jessica Gao’s visual effects She-Hulk spoke about the range of issues their team had encountered regarding the CGI of Tatiana Maslany’s character. Perhaps one of the reasons Marvel didn’t want any of the show’s Hulks to look so appealing, besides the reason he was a villain, was because it would have ended up overshadowing the protagonist who has already received enough criticism with regards to his CGI.
Either way, they definitely hit what they were aiming for when it comes to Todd Phelps.
