According to recent speculation on Marvel Studios’ Phase 5 filming schedule, Ryan Gosling could soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thunderbolts. Fans are wondering if he’ll get his own shot in the big Marvel world after working with the Russo Brothers on The Gray Man, which also starred MCU legend Chris Evans.
Gosling discussed the prospect of joining the Marvel cast, saying it would be great to play a part in the ever-expanding multiverse saga. Daniel Richtman, a well-known insider, revealed on his Patreon expect Marvel Studios to consider Ryan Gosling for a key villain role in the MCU.
Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgard are rumored to have caught Marvel’s attention for the kind of role men between the ages of 30 and 50 are often sought out for the character of a “troubled, strong villain”, who is likened to a ‘villainous Superman’. The character appears to be the all-powerful Marvel Sentry entity.
Ryan Gosling as Sentinel
Should Gosling play Sentry in the mcu, he would embody one of the most powerful figures in comics, with links to the Super Soldier Serum. If Ryan Gosling were to star as the main villain in Thunderbolts, this group of former villains and anti-heroes would face one of the most formidable foes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Taking on a villain like this will be an exciting new development for the MCU, given that most Thunderbolts have street-level talent outside of heavy hitters like Ghost. If true, it demonstrates that the Thunderbolts would gather to confront this “evil superman” and not declare war on Wakanda as previously speculated.
Production on Thunderbolts is expected to begin in the spring, so we shouldn’t wait too long to find out what the real deal is. It’s worth pointing out that Gosling is open to an MCU project and would be a fantastic addition to a film that tries to overcome its reputation as a second-rate offering.
