Andor season 1 turned out to be a pretty strong entry into the star wars franchise. After seeing Cassian Andor’s story end in A thug, we witness its origins in a prequel series that takes place 5 years before the film. In terms of viewership, the opening was not as good as The Mandalorian as he was somehow sent to die between Dragon House and power rings. But the series picked up a serious pace as the finale approached. Unfortunately, those eagerly awaiting Season 2 will have to wait a bit as the next season has only just started production.
Andor Season 2 Filming Schedule
The first season took about 3 years to complete filming and post-production as the pandemic caused a lot of hurdles. But now, according to Collider, production on Season 2 has begun and it probably won’t take as long as the first. However, Collider’s Steve Weintraub spoke to writer Tony Gilroy who confirmed that season 2 is set to run until August 2023.

While that seems like a long filming schedule, it’s pretty common with all the big-budget shows that fall under those 12-episode categories. And like season 1, the second and final season is also confirmed to have 12 episodes. We saw the first year of Andorand season 2 will tell us the story of the next 4 years until A thug. Each of the next 4 years will be featured in a 3-episode bundle.

When we could expect season 2
Tony Gilroy hinted at the Season 2 release timeline as he explained:
If the past is a predicate, and we do the same as before, it will be on the same timeline. It will be released two years later. The only place you can speed up processes is in office, and the only way to speed up in office is with money, and money is scarce. So, I don’t really know, there would have to be some serious motivation next May or June or something like that. Someone should say, “Wow, we really need it, and we’re willing to pay X.” Rogue One has proven that if you throw some money at it, you can release very, very quickly. It’s just very, very, very expensive.
Assuming there will be no panic this time around, the post-production of Andor Season 2 should only take about 8-12 months. That means we could get the final season in the second half of 2024 at the earliest.
