A new picture of Indiana Jones 5 shows Harison Ford and franchise newcomer Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
The folks at Empire Magazine have revealed the first official image of Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the upcoming fifth title IndianaJones film. According to the site, Waller-Bridge plays Helena, the goddaughter of Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones.
Speaking to Empire, Phoebe Waller-Bridge explained how she ended up in the IndianaJones franchise, revealing that it all started with a dinner invitation from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
“Kathy was in London and asked to have dinner with me, and casually mentioned it,” Waller-Bridge told the magazine. “I immediately ordered ten bottles of wine. Then it was the fastest script I have ever read; I came out of a sort of haze afterwards. I just couldn’t believe how much fun I was having and how moved I was. And then I had a Zoom and I shouted, ‘YES!’ at the mall.”
The IndianaJones The footage comes days after news broke that Disney and Lucasfilm are looking to keep the franchise alive through new projects, including a Disney Plus series. Harrison Ford said the upcoming film was his last run as Indy.
The IndianaJones The Disney Plus series is still in its early stages, but is being considered as a 1981 prequel The Raiders of the Lost Ark. It should focus on a young version of Abner Ravenwood, the father of Karen Allen’s Marion Ravenwood.
If a TV series ends up moving forward, the IndianaJones The franchise would return to the small screen for the first time since the 1990s. Indy was previously the face of The Chronicles of Young Indiana Jones on ABC, as well as four television specials from Family Channel, the network now known as Freeform. Harrison Ford made a guest appearance on an episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which also featured Sean Patrick Flanery, Corey Carrier and George Hall, with all four actors playing the titular hero at various stages of his life.
Besides Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones 5 also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Toby Jones. James Mangold co-wrote the screenplay alongside Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth.
Indiana Jones 5 is currently slated to hit theaters on June 30, 2023. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the film and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
