Spider-Man: No Coming Home broke box office records as a boss. Everyone still remembers the unprecedented hype for the film. Fans continually theorized about plot points, characters, and cameos. Everyone will also remember that one of the first leaked film appearances was that of Doc Ock played by Alfred Molina. And the actor has now revealed he got himself in hot water for it.
Alfred Molina was chewed out by Kevin Feige for not running home
Sitting down for an interview with Radio Times, Alfred Molina revealed the Marvel Studios boss had some harsh words for him. This was after he accidentally leaked he was in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Doc Ock. He said:
“I got in some trouble in the last iteration because I let the cat out of the bag quite innocently. By chance I was talking to a reporter who said, ‘So you know how the Spider-Man movie?’ And I went, ‘Oh, great thank you.’ Then, literally, the next day, Variety was like, ‘Alfred Molina reveals Doc-Ock’s return’.
He said that after this mishap, Kevin Feige was pissed at him:
“I’ve been in such trouble. I was getting phone calls from Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige was on the red carpet somewhere and someone asked him about a Marvel movie and apparently he was a little sarcastic and turned around and said, “Ask Alfred Molina”.
Everything is fine now between Marvel and Alfred Molina
The months and days leading up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home must have been trying for everyone involved in the project. After all, the actors were repeatedly asked about their involvement in the film. Some, like Andrew Garfield, denied it until the release date, but sometimes it came out, as in Molina’s case because an interviewer caught them off guard.
But a year has passed since the release of the hit film. As such, we don’t think Kevin Feige or Amy Pascal are still mad at Molina. After all, actor leaks are something that Kevin Feige and company frequently have to deal with. Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, and Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, have leaked several plot points over the years. So the studio got used to it and didn’t take long to reconcile with the talent.
Will Alfred Molina return as Doc Ock in the ongoing multiverse saga at Marvel right now? We don’t think so, especially given the end of his arc in No Way Home. But who knows. So stay tuned for more news.
