Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has become a huge hit since its release, giving Tenoch Huerta’s debut as Namor as well as Shuri learning through a path of heartbreak and becoming the next Black Panther. The film was beautifully explored in terms of visuals, music, and most importantly, character growth and development.
This then evolved into the deep expansion of character relationships, whether it was between Ramonda and Shuri or the stands of two different powerful women fans saw with Okoye and Queen Ramonda. Another such relationship was that of Shuri and Namor, however, it looks like fans could read more into it than they need to.

Namor and Shuri grow a friendship
During the scene where Shuri is with the Talokanians and Namor, the king shows the princess his kingdom for a while, to admire the beauty and simplicity of a land like his. To that extent, the two even warm to each other, viewing the other as more than just an enemy. This led to them being able to talk about the future of their kingdoms and how they could come to a settlement so as not to bring about the war and death that would be inevitable afterward.
The dynamic of these two characters was what you might call an onion relationship, with layers beyond the layers of knowledge and understanding buried beneath the exterior that the two had to keep for their people. Even though Tenoch Huerta’s Namor is the film’s main antagonist, it’s really hard to dislike him or see him from a black and white perspective. It’s also something Shuri sees. Letitia Wright’s character understands this and connects with it, regardless of her moral grounding. This, however, was a sign for fans to spot more than a friendship between the two.

Tenoch Huerta doesn’t support the idea of Shuri and Namor reuniting romantically
In an interview with Rolling Stones Magazine, Tenoch Huerta clarified that there was no romantic chemistry between Shuri and Namor, stating that the bond that was created was created with the spirit of their two human roots. . The connection, intimate as it was, had no romantic intentions of any kind.
“I mean in the history of their kingdoms, the history of their people, they share the same root, and the threat comes from the same place for both, for the same reason. They both face threats from Western countries like the United States and France in the story, because of vibranium, a natural resource. I think they connect in this aspect.
He added that there would always be people you connect with extremely deeply, but with no romantic intimacy between them. Regardless of gender or sexuality, there can always be connections that go beyond romance. He even added that he had no idea whether or not it would turn into a romantic relationship, all he was sure of was that it had indeed been magical.
