Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is available now on the Disney Plus streaming service, serving as an epilogue to the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At just under 45 minutes, James Gunn’s new Marvel project is also being well received by critics, as its Rotten Tomatoes score stands at 91%, based on 22 reviews from Tomato-approved writers.
The Official Rotten Tomatoes Review Consensus Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special reads: “More a Christmas present than a complete package, this Christmas excursion is a delightful showcase for Drax, Mantis and a very game Kevin Bacon.”
Set after the events of Thor: Love and Thunder, Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special sees Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) attempt to cheer up their leader Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) by kidnapping his childhood hero Kevin Bacon. In addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe holiday special, James Gunn is also directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
