COVID Vaccine Still Protect Against Severe Disease – New Research

According to two reports issued by the government, it is showing that COVID vaccines can protect against severe diseases even if they fade over time. One of the highly contagious diseases Delta variant can also be protected by these vaccines.

One new research shows that those people who are fully vaccinated are less likely to be hospitalized than those who are unvaccinated. This research is reaffirmed in Los Angeles.

Even if people who are vaccinated get COVID-19 due to some reason will not be in danger and do not need any intensive care, ventilation or cannot die.

The research holds importance as the spread of this virus is led by various variants and hence people in some cases need a booster dose of the vaccine also. In such a case, the vaccine taken for COVID may be effective against many other diseases that are the result of various infections from different viruses.

One more research that was followed with front-line workers for few months resulted that the effect of the vaccine is dropped by 33% for Delta variant still they can be effective. People who are vaccinated have fewer chances to get infected with Delta Variant.

“As we see the drop in effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines against Delta variant, still it can reduce almost 33 of risk,” said Ashley Fowlkes, who is an author of second research for COVID-19 CDS. “The vaccine is still very powerful. But we have to use the mask for the long-term to protect against COVID-19 as things are still at risk” Fowlkes added.

This topic is one of the most researched and ongoing in a current situation where everyone is worried whether COVID-19 vaccines will protect us from the Dela variant or not. However, those two types of research have shown that they are two-thirds effective for people with vaccination as compared to unvaccinated people. The chances are very minor for fully vaccinated people to get infected by the Delta variant.

According to the study performed in Los Angeles shows that unvaccinated people are five times more at chances or likely to get infected with COVID-19 and almost 29 times more likely to get hospitalized for severe issues and need intensive care. It has been found that COVID-19 vaccines are very effective and can save people from severe illness even if it is something related to the Delta variant.

Although the effectiveness of vaccines had dropped due to the spread of the Delta variant. One more study shows that non-vaccinated people are 8 times more likely to get Delta variant as compared to vaccinated people. And in case the Delta would hold its place, the risk will be multiplied fivefold more.

“Before identifying Delta variant, it was known that vaccines are overall good for the protection from severe illness of COVID-19. But as delta has emerged, there is a great chance that delta might infect some people even if they are vaccinated. Vaccines cannot protect people from the Delta variant infection fully” said Paul Simon, who is a chief officer at Los Angeles, for the health department.

“As of now, vaccines are doing their job exactly for what they promised us. They are protecting us from getting infected and dying but it might not be the same in the case of Delta variant” said Barbara Ferrer, who is a director of the Los Angeles Department of health

Both government and researchers are working on this part to get an effective way from the protection of severe illnesses such as the Delta variant. However, vaccines are safe so they are spreading awareness among people to get fully vaccinated.
